As the most anticipated pageant of the year is all set to happen on 17th November 2023 in El Salvador, here are some of the judges from the selection committee who made this year's choices more diverse and inclusive! Indeed one of the most multifarious groups, the judges are a reflection of how your Miss Universe Winner is going to look like. The criteria and scoring as cleared before are based on their personal interviews, preliminary performance, and how they radiate their individuality on the finale night. Miss Universe is someone who becomes the spokesperson of the organization for a year, hence speaking skills hold 50% of the whole selection criteria.

HALIMA ADEN - GAINING THE SPOTLIGHT!

Born in the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya, Halima is a 26-year-old American fashion supermodel who garnered attention for being the first woman to wear a hijab in the Miss Minnesota USA 2016 pageant and ended up as a semi-finalist. Signed to IMG models, she has also walked for New York Fashion Week and has judged Miss USA 2017. Becoming the first hijab-wearing model to walk internationally, she landed on various fashion book covers from Vogue Arabia, Allure to British Vogue. Also the brand ambassador for UNICEF significantly focussing on children's rights, she became the first Somali woman to compete at the Miss Universe 2020 pageant. She once said, “All those other ‘firsts’ have prepared me for my true calling! I will be the first Miss Somalia on the stage of Miss Universe” From being a contestant to now a judge, Halima's journey is proof of unwavering commitment and dedication towards breaking numerous stereotypes.

JANELLE ‘PENNY’ COMMISSIONG

Entering this year's selection panel is none other than Miss Universe 1977 from Trinidad and Tobago who became the first black woman to be crowned as Miss Universe and the awardee for Miss Photogenic at the prestigious pageant. A 70-year-old beauty queen, she is also a Trinidadian politician and model. During her reign as Miss Universe, she advocated for black rights and world peace. Awarded with the highest honor of her country, the Trinity Cross award, she also has a street and 3 postage stamps on her name! An inspirational queen who changed the norms of standardized beauty with her win, Penny definitely demands your inner self to shine ladies!

Besides the glamor industry, other professions are also here to assess!

Dr. Connie Mariano was commissioned as a lieutenant in the United States Navy upon graduation and became the first military woman to be appointed the White House physician. Serving 3 presidents, now this doctor on duty is ready to judge Miss Universe!

Similarly, Sweta Patel who is a dynamic marketing leader with 10+ years of Digital, CRM, and marketing automation experience and an expert in win-back marketing is also in El Salvador to score these Miss Universe contestants.

This year's panel of judges is surely a diversified group coming together from different professional fields and backgrounds. From Martial arts player, TV personality, Actor, and Tiktok sensations to beauty queens all are here to select your new Miss Universe stating the legacy of a 70 years old organization that exists to advocate for a future forged by women with the courage to push the limits of what's possible!
