MISS UNIVERSE PORTUGAL - FIRST EVER TRANSWOMAN TO PLACE IN MISS UNIVERSE!

Marina Machete, a flight attendant from Portugal who once hesitated to even participate in any beauty pageant, has made a name for herself and her community in the current Miss Universe beauty pageant. Amongst the 84 countries partaking, Marina secured a Top 20 position and became the first ever trans woman to get a placement internationally. Advocating for LGBTQ+ community and their rights, Marina wishes to circulate the message of hope and enlightenment. Believing in herself, she shined in both of her exceptional gowns and killed the swimwear competition with her energetic and proficient walk. Previously Angela Ponce from Spain has also stepped on the Miss Universe stage and now continuing the legacy Marina's placement is a benchmark of rising transwomen. The fact that now this organization is also owned by a Thai- business transwoman Anne Jakrajutatip makes it even more remarkable and abiding. With Miss Universe becoming more inclusive and diverse, Miss Portugal is such a great example of appreciating your roots, flaunting them with grace and ethnicity while leaving a positive impact for the upcoming generation. As P&I Magazine's 4th edition cover personality Namitha Marimuthu also advocates for the same cause, we feel proud to see queens like Marina capture the spotlight and join hand in hand for a revolutionary transformation.
