DIANA HAYDEN

India's 3rd Miss World Winner

It might take a year , it might take a day , but what's meant to be will always find its way." And this turned into reality for a simple Indian girl having limitless desires . Born on 1 May 1973 Diana was raised in an Anglo-Indian Christian family of Hyderabad , Andhra Pradesh , The South of India . Having lived in a huge extended family with around 30 cousins , she spent her childhood always being around family members . But life isn't always kind to offer you consistent happiness and at the age of 13, her parents got separated. So it wasn't an option but a need for her to start working at this age instead of building childhood memories. From being a receptionist to telephone operator and even selling perfumes in a market she did around 18-20 odd jobs to earn her livelihood . But that feeling of unfulfillment and hunger to not settle for anything less has always pushed her to go for more. She came to Bombay at the age of 18 with Rs.250/- in her pocket . She started working for an event management company where she was called MISS ORGANISER by her colleagues for organising everything so perfectly. Considering herself as a backstager , she never took interest in coming up onstage and always pulled herself out of everything, but few of her friends who respected her potential recommended her to start taking modelling assignments, which she did . At the age of 21 , she worked as a public managing officer . Hayden's journey in pageantry began when her boss , the singer whom she assisted, made her send pictures to Femina Miss India.

When you are destined for something big , absolutely nothing can stop you and that's what exactly happened and Diana Hayden was shortlisted . She placed 2nd in the competition and earned the title of Femina Miss India world 1997 . She went on to represent India internationally at 47th Miss World pageant in Baie Lazare , Seychelles .She defeated 85 delegates from different countries and created history by becoming the first and only woman till date to win three subtitles including Miss World Asia and Oceania , Miss Photogenic , Miss Spectacular Swimwear and ended up wearing the most prestigious crown of the world . She became the third Indian Woman to win Miss World.
