As India gears up to host the Miss World pageant for the second time, it's worth reminiscing about the historic event held in 1996, when the country welcomed the Miss World Pageant for the very first time. The event, which took place in Bangalore, saw representatives from 88 countries and territories competing for the coveted title.

The 1996 edition of Miss World holds a special place in history as it marked the first time the pageant received internet coverage. Miss Greece emerged victorious, clinching the Miss World 1996 crown crowned by Miss World 1995 from Venezuela, with Miss Colombia as the first runner-up and Miss Brazil as the second runner-up crowned by current Chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organization- Julia Morley. India also shone bright, securing a place in the top 6.

Now, as Miss World returns to India in 2024, excitement is palpable. With the Jio Convention Hall in Mumbai set to host the event on 9th March, anticipation builds over who will claim the crown this time. As the countdown begins, all eyes turn to the stage, eager to witness the next chapter in the legacy of Miss World unfold.
